Technique instructor of Thursdays: Beginner III/Intermediate I: 7:30-8:30pm and Modern Dance for Bellydancers: 8:30-9:30pm at Solstice Studio.
Megan Ward brings a rich background of dance and knowledge of the body
to her classes. Her depth of professional dance experience, technical
knowledge of movement and the body, and many years of intense training,
met with her warm personality, intuitive approach, and surprising
humility, make Megan Ward a true asset to Solstice Studio as a Technique
Instructor.
Megan Ward began her dance training in the Royal
Academy of Dance
program in her native Oak Ridge, Tennessee, in more recent years she has
studied at the prestigious Tulsa Ballet School, Joffrey Ballet School
and the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance, where she trained
under the legendary Dudley Williams. Her schooling further encompasses
at Dance New Amsterdam, also of New York City.
Megan has studied intensively with Sera Solstice since 2008, and has been a featured dancer in 2 full-length instructional DVDs on East Coast Tribal Bellydance (Lunar Bellydance, and Goddess Dance), directed by Sera Solstice, produced by World Dance NY. Megan is one of 3 first assistants for Sera Solstice's advanced classes, and is a member of Solstice Ensemble, and the East Coast Tribal Salon.
Megan was a member of Circle Modern Dance, of Knoxville, TN from the
year 2000 through 2006, while she was simultaneously a principal in
Ballet Gloria from 2004-2006. She also performed with the Oak Ridge
Civic Ballet Association during those formative years. Ever the
multi-tasker, Megan taught at the East Tennessee Conservatory of Fine
Arts during the same period, working particularly with children. Megan
taught advanced classes with Circle Modern Dance, while further working
with the mentally challenged at Sunshine Industries.
Megan now lives in New York and has worked with Mark Lamb Dance as a
collaborator, dancer and choreographer since 2007.
Her ongoing goal is finding her unique artistic voice within a variety
of artistic disciplines. She has a passion for collaborating
with artists of all styles and is most pleased to be working the
Solstice studio.
