Tuesdays: 5:15-6:25, Instructor: Danielle
Reinforce your weekly dance classes with open-level technique drills. Repetitive review of the fundamentals creates an excellent workout and promises to make the dancer feel more at ease within each step. We want to find ourselves in a place of enjoyment in our dance. This comes through visiting movements in-depth so that our body can take over and our mind is free to focus upon our heart.

Wednesdays: 9:00-10:10, Instructor: Jezebel
Explore the darker side of tribal with Jezebel:
This class will meander through basic tribal movement and vocabulary with a flare of the daring and dramatic. You will learn moves into movement into choreography both spontaneous and directed. We will engage in the performer aspect of our dance. What does this choreography mean to you? How does it make you feel? What would you like your audience to learn from it? Melding this knowledge with that of our personal dance to create hauntingly beautiful choreography.

We all
have a dance living in our bodies which does not belong to any one
discipline, which is absolutely unique to each of us. In this workshop
we will journey deep within ourselves to free it. We will create a safe,
sacred environment in which we are encouraged to feel our
vulnerabilities and express our strengths, and will move through guided
meditations both in silence and with music. We will go forth into the
unknown, giving permission to ourselves to let go of the rulebook and
truly be danced. Whether a beginning-level seeker, a seasoned
ecstatic dancer, or anywhere in between, this session will inspire and
empower your personal creative process. Hopefully we will all have some
fun along the way! Bring a notebook or journal; as time and interest
allows, we will share our experiences with one another.

True to her own background, Gigi's class fuses a foundation of hip hop movement with elements of other styles such as jazz, pop, and funk. This class aims to build on performance quality, musicality, and the ability to follow choreography but strives to maintain a comfortable environment where students can continue to develop confidence as a dancer and have fun.

In this multi-level class we'll start with the basics and develop a strong rhythmic vocabulary that will solidify your existing technique, inform your dancing and extend your appreciation for Middle Eastern music. Learn to identify and play the basic rhythms that are the foundation for most Middle Eastern music and then learn how to find your musical voice. Once we have the basics we will explore less common rhythms and even apply what we've learned in context by playing with actual musicians. Topics will include:drum solos, how to play classic songs, how to play in an ensemble, and learning the difference between regional songs and rhythms. During this recurring class each student will get individual attention and guidance to help him/her grow as a musician and/or dancer.
